    Aus dem (Soto) Zen kenne ich nicht, dass es verglichen wird, im Sinne von "Menschen stehen oben, Tiere unten" oder ähnlich. Viel mehr geht es bei Buddhanatur um einen Zusammenhang in der Natur selbst, der unabhängig von uns Menschen existiert - damit können wir auch nicht einfach oben stehen.

    Shoaku Okumura schreibt zu dem Thema:

    Realizing Genjokoan:

    [...] It's essential here to recognize that buddhas and living beings are not two seperate groups of people; all beings are part of one universal reality, and in this sense there is no separation between buddhas and living beings. This is the meaning of the phrase "no buddhas and no living beings" in the second sentence of Genjokoan. We pracitce within the universal reality of no separation, so there is no separation between us, our practice, and Buddha. In this view of reality, we actually are buddhas. We live as part of the universal reality of life, whether we know it or not, and there is no separation between self and other, even though we separate them in our minds. No matter how self-centered our ideas, we always live within the network of interdependent origination and are connected with and supported by all beings in the whole world. [..]

    So wie ich das verstehe, ist mit living beings alles gemeint - nicht nur Menschen.
